How do I install a LiftMaster 030DCT circuit board?

Receiver Logic Board Replacement (Model 030DCT)

WARNING: To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, disconnect ALL electric and battery power BEFORE performing ANY service or maintenance.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the receiver/logic board, DO NOT touch the printed circuit board of the replacement receiver/logic board during installation. ALWAYS wear protective gloves and eye protection when working around the battery compartment.

1. Before You Begin

Your garage door opener has an internal gateway located on the receiver logic board. The logic board firmware has been updated to provide a new Obstruction Notification.

  • If the opener senses resistance (obstruction or binding), the door will stop or reverse to the open limit.
  • The opener will beep and the lights will flash 5 times.

2. Remove the Old Receiver Logic Board

  1. Preparation: Remove the end panel cover by squeezing the tabs to remove the panel from the operator. Place the provided label over the existing label on the end panel to maintain your warranty.
  2. Disconnect Power: Disconnect electrical and battery power (if applicable).
  3. Disconnect Wires:
    • Disconnect wires from the quick-connect terminals (A).
    • To insert or remove wires from the terminal, push in the tab with a screwdriver tip.
    • Disconnect any wires from the lock terminals.
  4. Remove Harnesses: Remove the receiver logic board end panel from the garage door opener. Unplug the wire harnesses from the board (needle-nosed pliers may be required).
  5. Remove Board: Remove the receiver logic board from the end panel by removing the 4 screws.

3. Install the New Receiver Logic Board

  1. Insert the antenna wires through the holes in the end panel.
  2. Snap the new receiver logic board into place on the end panel and fasten it with the 4 screws.
  3. Connect Harnesses: Connect the wire harnesses to the new board.
Note: When reconnecting a wire harness, ensure the tabs on the wire harness are facing the end panel, not the logic board.
  4. Reinstall Panel: Reinstall the end panel with the logic board and reinsert the wires.

IMPORTANT: A test of the safety reverse system is necessary for safe operation.

4. Programming

Program a Remote using the LEARN Button

  1. Press and release the LEARN button on the garage door opener. The indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds.
  2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote control.
  3. Release the button when the garage door opener light blinks. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard.

To add your opener to your myQ® account, use the serial number found on the provided label.

5. Adjustment

WARNING: Without a properly installed safety reversal system, persons (particularly small children) could be SERIOUSLY INJURED or KILLED. After ANY adjustments are made, the safety reversal system MUST be tested.

Step 1: Program the Travel

Note: The Safety Reversing Sensors will be disconnected during this process.
  1. Press and hold the Adjustment button until the UP button begins to flash and/or a beep is heard.
  2. Press and hold the UP button until the door is in the desired UP position.
  3. Once the door is in the desired UP position, press and release the Adjustment button. The lights will flash twice and the DOWN button will begin to flash.
  4. Press and hold the DOWN button until the door is in the desired DOWN position.
  5. Once in the desired DOWN position, press and release the Adjustment button. The lights will flash twice indicating programming is complete.
If the lights flash 5 times, programming has timed out. Please restart the process.

Step 2: Automatic Force Setup

Once UP and DOWN positions are set, the Safety Reversing Sensors will reconnect. The opener will enter force-sensing operation by automatically opening and closing the door.

  • The opener will sound an audible and visual alert before moving.
  • Success: The opener will beep three times.
  • Failure: If you hear one long beep, the setup was not successful. Start over at Step 1.

6. Testing Safety Systems

Test the Safety Reversal System

Frequency: This system must be tested every month.

  1. With the door fully open, place a 1-1/2" (3.8 cm) board (or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor, centered under the garage door.
  2. Press the remote control push button to close the door.
  3. The door MUST reverse when it makes contact with the board.

If the door stops but does not reverse, repeat "Program the Travel" and retest. If it continues to fail, call a trained technician.

Test the Protector System®

  1. Open the door. Place an obstruction in the path of the door.
  2. Press the remote control push button to close the door.
  3. The door will not move more than 1" (2.5 cm).
