How do I install a LiftMaster 041-0489-000 push button?
Installation Instructions
This Push Button Door Control (Models: 003-0853-000 & 041-0489-000) is compatible with Security+ 3.0™ garage door openers[cite: 2, 8]. These openers are identified by a white learn button[cite: 3].
⚠️ WARNING
- Prevent Electrocution: Ensure power is NOT connected BEFORE installing the door control[cite: 10].
- Low Voltage: Connect ONLY to 12 VOLT low voltage wires[cite: 11].
- Safety Placement: Install within sight of the door, out of reach of children, at a minimum height of 5 feet (1.5 m), and away from all moving parts[cite: 13, 19].
Setup Steps
01. Disconnect Power: Unplug the garage door opener and disconnect the battery backup if applicable[cite: 20, 21].
02. Prepare Wires: Separate the wires and strip 1/4 inch (6 mm) of insulation from the ends[cite: 23].
03. Wire the Control: Connect one wire to each of the two screws on the back of the door control[cite: 25]. The wires can be connected to either screw[cite: 26].
04. Mount the Unit: Mark the screw hole locations on the wall and drill two 5/32 inch (4 mm) holes[cite: 27]. If using drywall, tap in anchors with a hammer[cite: 29]. Secure the unit with two screws[cite: 29].
05. Connect to Opener: Strip 7/16 inch (11 mm) of insulation from the wire ends[cite: 30]. Connect one wire to the Red terminal and the other to the White terminal[cite: 33]. Push the tabs with a screwdriver to insert or release wires[cite: 34].
06. Power On: Reconnect power[cite: 40]. The LED behind the push button will blink if installed correctly[cite: 40].
Programming
- Press and immediately release the LEARN button on the opener; the LED will turn on solid[cite: 44].
- Within 30 seconds, press and hold the push button on the wall control until the opener lights flash or two clicks are heard[cite: 45].
- Test: Press the button again to confirm the door activates[cite: 50, 51].
