How do I program this keypad?


Genie GK-BX Programming Instructions and Battery Replacement

If your Genie garage door opener has a learn code button instead of a program set button follow these steps prior to programming.

1.  Enter numbers 3, 5 then 7 and press the up/down key.

2.  When the keypad lights stay on steady, hold the program button down until the LED changes from green to red.

3.  Release the program button and allow the keypad to go dark.  The keypad can now be programmed.

 

A.  Setting a Single Pin

1.  Press numbers; 3, 5 then 7.

2.  Press the program key.

3.  Enter your new PIN (3 - 8 numbers).

4.  Follow section C to program the keypad.

 

B.  Setting a Pin for Two or Three Doors

1.  Follow section A first to program the first door.

2.  Enter your PIN set in section A.

3.  Now press the number of doors you want to control (2 or 3).

4.  Enter your PIN and press the up/down button.

5.  Enter the door to program (2 or 3).

6.  Hold the program button until the LED changes from green to red.

7.  Release the program button and let the keypad go dark.  Your keypad is now programmed.  Follow steps 4 - 7 if you have a third door.

 

C.  Programming the Keypad

1a.  Press and hold the program button for two seconds.  Round LED will turn blue then shut off.  Long LED will begin flashing purplpe.

1b.  Press the learn code button and LED will blink.

Follow steps 2 - 5 for a single door and steps 6 - 10 for multiple doors.

2.  Enter your PIN.

3.  Press the up/down button.  Opener LEDs will stay on steady.

4.  Press the up/down button again.  Opener LEDs will turn off.

5.  Press the up/down button again.  Opener will operate.

6.  Enter your PIN.

7.  Press the up/down button.  Opener LEDs will stay on steady.

8.  Select the number of the door you want to program (1, 2 or 3).

9.  Press the up/down button again.  Opener LEDs will turn off.

10.  Press the up/down button again.  Opener will operate.  Repeat steps 6 - 10 for each additional door.

 

D.  Mounting the Keypad - Must be mounted at least 5 feet above the floor and clear of any moving parts.

1.  Remove the battery cover and batteries.

2.  Drill a 1/16" hole for the top mounting screw.

3.  Install the screw into the hole, leaving a 1/8" gap between the scew head and wall.

4.  Hook the top of the keypad on the screw.

5.  Mark and drill a hole for the bottom screw and secure keypad to the wall.  Do not over tighten.

6.  Reinstall the batteries and cover.

 

E.  Resetting PIN

1.  Press and hold the program button and then the up/down button for 5 seconds until the LED starts blinking slowly.  When blinking stops you have successfully erased the old code.

2.  Follow steps to set a PIN and program the keypad.

 

F.  Temporary PIN - Temporary PIN automatically cancels when you enter your normal PIN.

1.  Enter your current PIN and press program button three times.

2.  Enter a temporary PIN and press the program button.

 

G.  Changing PIN

1.  Enter your current PIN then press the program button.

2.  Enter your new PIN then press the program button.

 

H.  Replacing Batteries - If the keypad backlight does not light up then the batteries need to be replaced.

1.  Push in and down on the button front cover of the keypad and slide the battery cover off.

2.  Replace the batteries with two AAA batteries.  Check the battery terminals to install in the proper direction.
