The Genie EKSC Screw Drive Rail Extension Kit is a genuine OEM accessory engineered to adapt compatible Genie screw drive garage door openers for an 8' residential sectional garage door. By adding approximately 12 inches of travel to the opener’s rail system, this replacement/upgrade kit enables reliable opening and closing of taller doors while maintaining the performance and safety features of your existing Genie screw-drive unit. It is designed specifically for screw drive systems and is not intended for chain or belt drive models.
Use the EKSC when converting a standard 7' setup to operate an 8' door in residential applications. Installation requires disconnecting power, mechanically adding the extension components to the screw-drive rail, and then reprogramming open/close travel limits and force settings per the opener’s manual. The door must be properly balanced and in good working condition before installation. For accuracy, verify opener compatibility with Genie’s published compatibility charts and installation instructions; this kit is for select Genie screw drive openers only and is typically intended for sectional doors. Following UL 325 safety practices—such as testing the Safe-T-Beam system after adjustments—is recommended to ensure proper operation.
