How do I install a 41D7742-7 or 41D7742-5 Travel module

Tools Required

• 1/4" nut driver or socket
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Flat head screwdriver

Preparation

Note: Close the garage door before installing the travel module.

1. Disconnect all electric and battery power to the garage door opener.
2. Remove the following components:
   • Light lens
   • Cover
   • Wire harness from the travel module
   • Travel module retainer clip
   • Use a screwdriver to gently pry the travel module from the motor bracket
3. Discard the old travel module.

Install the New Travel Module

4. Align all four tabs of the new travel module with the holes on the motor bracket and snap into place.
5. Align the module opening with the motor shaft hole and reinstall the retainer clip.
6. Reconnect the wire harness to the travel module.
7. Reassemble the garage door opener.
8. Reconnect electrical power to the opener.

Program the Travel

9. Press and hold the Adjustment button until the UP button flashes and/or a beep sounds.
10. Press and hold the UP button to raise the door to the desired open position.
11. Release the Adjustment button. Opener lights flash twice. The DOWN button begins to flash.
12. Press and hold the DOWN button to lower the door to the desired closed position.
13. Release the Adjustment button. Opener lights flash twice. The UP button begins to flash.
14. Press and release the UP button. Door moves to the programmed UP position. DOWN button begins flashing.
15. Press and release the DOWN button. Door moves to the programmed DOWN position. Programming is complete.

Test Safety Reversal System

16. Place a 1.5" (3.8 cm) high object (or 2x4 board) flat on the floor centered under the door.
17. Press the remote control to close the door. The door must reverse when it contacts the object.
18. If the door does not reverse, increase the down travel and repeat the test.

Test the Protector System®

19. Open the door and place the garage door opener’s carton in the path of the door.
20. Press the remote control. The door should not close more than 1" (2.5 cm), and opener lights will flash 10 times.

Troubleshooting

If the unit will not move more than 6–8 inches after installing the new travel module, ensure the retainer clip is installed and the wire harness is securely connected.
