The Genie GL2T is a two-button garage door opener remote with a built-in LED flashlight, designed for quick, reliable control of residential Genie openers. Each button can independently operate a garage door or a compatible Genie accessory, making it a convenient replacement part or upgrade for households with one or two doors. The GL2T uses Genie Intellicode rolling-code security to help prevent unauthorized access and is compatible with most Genie Intellicode I and Intellicode II openers manufactured since the late 1990s, as well as many Overhead Door models using CodeDodger technology. It operates on Genie’s standard radio frequencies used for Intellicode systems (315 and/or 390 MHz, depending on the opener), and the integrated flashlight adds practical visibility when entering or leaving your garage at night. A coin-cell battery (commonly CR2032) powers the remote and flashlight.
Programming is straightforward using the Learn/Program button on the opener’s powerhead: initiate learn mode on the opener, then press the desired GL2T button to sync, and confirm operation with a second press. No special tools are required, and typical setup takes only a minute per button. This remote is intended for residential Genie and compatible Overhead Door units that use Intellicode/CodeDodger and is generally not compatible with legacy dip-switch systems or other brands unless an external Genie receiver is installed. For best results and safety, program the remote from within your garage with the door closed, keep transmitters out of reach of children, and verify compatibility by checking that your opener supports Intellicode/CodeDodger and uses the corresponding 315/390 MHz frequencies.
