The LiftMaster 41A5034 Safety Sensor Kit is a genuine OEM replacement set of garage door opener photo eyes designed to restore the required safety-reverse protection on compatible systems. Using an infrared beam across the door opening, the transmitter and receiver detect obstructions and automatically reverse the door to help prevent injury and property damage, meeting UL 325 entrapment protection requirements when installed correctly. This kit is commonly used on residential LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers that use photoelectric sensors (typically manufactured after 1997), including many Security+ and newer models. It is also referenced as 041A5034 and may replace various -xx revisions within the same series.
Installation is straightforward with no programming required: mount the sensors facing each other near the bottom of the door track (no higher than 6 inches above the floor), run the low-voltage wires to the opener, and align until the indicator LEDs show proper operation (amber steady on the sending unit; green steady on the receiving unit when aligned). Wire both solid white leads to the opener’s white/common terminal and both white/black leads to the safety sensor terminal (often terminals 2 and 3 on LiftMaster/Chamberlain logic boards). Power is supplied by the opener, and the system will not allow remote operation if the sensors are misaligned or not connected. This safety sensor kit is intended for direct replacement on compatible LiftMaster-family residential openers and is not cross-compatible with other brands that use different photo-eye technologies.
